The global political economy has since time immemorial been characterized by asymmetries that are evident in the economic disparity among and within nations; educational and health gaps; technological gaps and even what some describe as expectation gaps. In essence, these various gaps denote the differences in the level and rate of development and the chances of bridging the economic divide, between those who have managed their economies well and have realized significant economic growth, and others that continue to struggle against the tidal waves of the global political economy.
